When they barely had income sufficient
To keep most of the bills paid,
Somehow they managed to make time
To live up to the promises made.
But they scrimped and they saved both
Together, to buy an old TV set,
Imagining it would be worthwhile,
And they would much closer get.
"Love can't exist in a vacuum", She said
Behind eyes filled with tears.
"So where is the man who had promised
To love me and calm all my fears ?"
At first they talked at the commercials,
Then slowly they talked not at all.
But they learned very well how to argue
When his silence drove her up the wall.
"Love can't exist in a vacuum", She yelled

Eventually they got a computer,
And it seemed to make him so proud.
But the conversation died even more so.
Conversation's not what it allowed.
"I think she left sometime in August",
He says. But he's not really sure.
He had gotten a new CD-Rom game pack
And was staying up playing til four.
"LOVE CAN'T EXIST IN A VACUUM", She CURSED
Behind eyes filled with tears.
"So where is the man who had promised
To love me and calm all my fears ?"
When the divorce lawyer was finished
All knew that their love was quite dead.
The man tried to pick up the pieces and
Thought "Was it something I said"?
Love can't exist in a vacuum
It takes effort, takes talking, takes time
Be a man, and turn off the distractions
And your life with your wife will be fine
